Flag Pole sittin’
Dad finally put the flag pole up. It was a great day to do it – we even ended up with entertainment from across the street when some kid that doesn’t know how to drive backed his car into the yard on a hill and got stuck because he was directly in front of a tree. They had to chop the tree down (it was dead anyhow) to get the car out.
Anyhow, here’s the flag pole, flying patriotic! (no, it’s not crooked. it is put in the ground level, it’s just windy and blowing the pole pretty good!)

Snow!
We missed how white the trees were in the morning because the battery on our camera was dead from taking pictures from the night before. But, here’s a picture from our deck that shows the accumulation on the railing.

Snowing in the South!
It’s official, there’s more than a dusting of snow in the south. It started at around 3:45pm in Columbia and hasn’t stopped yet (as of 8:15pm). After supper we decided that it was time to go out and play in the white stuff. Braeden would point around at everything and say “snow…snow.” Most of our neighborhood was actually out playing, it was kinda fun. We even got one neighbor to take our family picture with the snowman we made!
Update 2/13/2010: News channel said we got about 7” in Columbia between 3:30pm and 11:30pm. Record 5th most snowfall in history for the area.
This is the beginning of the snow. It had probably been falling for about 45 minutes at this point. Temps were still too high for it to really stick.
And this is what it looked like after about 3 hours.
Braeden was more interested in getting his picture taken than putting his mittens on!
This was Braeden’s favorite. Mom showed him how to make snowballs. He just made them and would throw them at the garage to watch them break up and because of the fun sound they made when they hit.
